GEMs education launches the first inter- group competition celebrating the legacy of Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan- ruler of Abu Dhabi for 38 years and the driving force behind the formation of the United Arab Emirates. The celebration of his legacy is grouped with societal benefits. Students are encouraged to work on projects that benefit the society, while also celebrating Shaikh Zayed’s values.
The competition will take place until December. Students will work on projects that focus on topics such as sustainability, human development, social responsibility, environmental conservation, women empowerment and leadership. A cash prize of AED 30,000 will be given to the winners. The prize needs to be reinvested back into the community, to have a larger impact. Deema Al Alami, vice-president of Arabic and Islamic at GEMS Education, said: “One of our favorite quotes of Shaikh Zayed is, ‘The real wealth is hard work that benefits the person and the community. It is immortal and eternal, and forms the value of the human and the nation’.” This is why the competition has been created, so that students have the chance to really think deeply and implement Sheikh Zayed’s values in a way that can benefit the society.
The competition will not only bring students together, but it will bring the whole community together. The competition allows students to learn the benefits of helping the society, while also benefiting the society in a larger way.
