Despite being a glaucoma patient from birth, 18-year-old Asma Abbas has done extraordinarily well in the CBSE exams, with a 94.4% average received. The DPS (Delhi Private School) student scored 97 in Hindi, 96 in English, 99 in computer studies, 94 in social studies, and 86 in Math.
“I am thrilled with the results. I was expecting something over 90 percent, but I am just delighted."
Asma gives full credit to her teachers, classmates, mother and scribers at school for the results. She doesn’t write notes in class, her classmates send her Whatsapp messages of the notes, and her mother helps her write them down. Asmaa’s vision got really bad after grade 7, therefore her scribe Abhirami has helped write the board exams. She said mathematics was a difficult subject as she could not see diagrams or charts. Asma is very thankful for her mother, as she is a housewife, and has been able to really help Asma in her studies. Thanks to her mother, she was able to reduce her anxiety due to the large portions. Asma has never taken tuitions or additional studies.
